You can find your vehicle’s VIN code on your car and on your vehicle registration document. It is a 17-digit alphanumeric code.
Type approval
We offer type approval services for vehicles put into service after 01.01.1998. Type approval is a process that determines whether the vehicle was manufactured in accordance with the applicable technical requirements and, if it complies, the National Road Traffic Register grants an individual type approval to the specific vehicle. Amerika Auto offers the fastest and most convenient full type approval service.
THE TYPE APPROVAL PROCESS IS AS FOLLOWS:
- AM enters into an agreement with the client to carry out the type approval and register the vehicle in the Road Traffic Register.
- AM makes the necessary modifications and orders the required tests.
- AM submits an application to the Estonian Road Traffic Registry for granting individual type approval.
- The Road Traffic Register checks the vehicle’s compliance with the applicable requirements and grants individual type approval or refuses it if the vehicle cannot be brought into compliance.
- After granting individual type approval, AM registers the vehicle to the person indicated by the client and hands over the already registered vehicle to the client.
- If necessary, we also perform a technical inspection and conclude motor vehicle insurance so that your vehicle is ready for road traffic.
It takes 5-14 days to complete the type approval. The price depends on the specific vehicle.

Damage handling
If a damage has occurred, inform your insurer and take the vehicle to Amerika Auto. If the vehicle is not roadworthy, contact us and we will arrange for the vehicle to be transported. Our specialists will assess the damage and communicate with the insurance company to save you the hassle of time. You will be served by experienced claims specialist Margus Friedemann.

NEW SERVICE AUTOCHECK
According to the Estonian Border Guard and Customs Board, up to 70% of used vehicles imported to Estonia from the United States have been damaged! In fact, this is not only a problem for cars of American origin, the same result would be obtained if cars imported from Europe or even cars on the Estonian secondary market were inspected for free. The difference is that in Europe there is no unified inspection mechanism, while in America every maintenance, change of ownership and accident is recorded along with the mileage.
